Known for it’s stunning wineries and even better views, the Okanagan Valley makes for a picturesque location for an engagement session. What I loved most about this location in Kelowna is the diversity with its overarching trees, golden grass, rocky features overlooking the Okanagan Lake. Golden hues and painterly sunsets made it a perfect place for a summer’s night worth celebrating.
Karlee and Warren loved the warmth and feeling of the area, and half way through their road trip across Alberta and British Columbia, we decided on the picturesque location of Bertram Creek as the destination for their engagement session. Warren’s Jag definitely added even more fun into the photos, since old cars are a big passion of his.
I took advantage of the golden grass and with the summery outfits Karlee & Warren had chosen, I went for a feel that said, “weekend picnic, but make it cinematic”. Big blue skies turning pink and a little bit of haze gave this just the amount of dreamy I had envisioned.
While Karlee chose to incorporate this hat based on her outfit, our location, and the fact that well, it’s adorable – props and details that you can hold onto are great if it’s your first time having your photo taken, or if you’re a bit nervous. I know how daunting it can feel to be in front of a camera, but having something to keep your hands busy can definitely take your mind off things and relax a bit more into the scene.
Adding Meaning Into Your Engagement Sessions
You don’t need to over think it! Is there a place or thing that really resonates with you? Let’s find a way to incorporate it in. Karlee & Warren love coming to the Okanagan and the fact that they road tripped in one of Warren’s old cars made it even sweeter to include the car into the photos. By adding some of their favourite things into the session, these photos weave perfectly into their story and journey.
